- exclusively at odesi: Starling from Marc Th. van der Voorn

Marc Th. van der VoornThe designer about the Starling lamp
"An object of pure simplicity with a touch of fantasy."

Marc van der Voorn’s creations always contain an element of surprise. This is often stylized and its construction is well thought out.
The Starling lamp, on the edge of which sits a bird, made out of stainless steel (a starling), is asymmetric. Still, it keeps its balance. On paper it seems simple but in practice it is a real challenge.

The tension between the element of surprise (the bird) and the necessary balance of the lamp is tangible.

The bird soaks the colors of the surrounding environment and it seems like it is going to fly away at any moment.
